About the speaker
My name’s Anya, and I have an unpronounceable Russian surname – Zhukova. I’m 22, born and bred in Russia. Before moving to the UK I’ve lived abroad during my studies in a small town of Mankato, Minnesota.
I’ve been in Cardiff since October, I work for a charity organisation. During my time here I’ve successfully learned how to say “hi” and “no thank you” in Welsh – both very useful when you find yourself in town on a Saturday night.
My academic background is in linguistics and journalism…blargh, that’s boring. Please, ignore that part.
Interesting facts about me: I hate ice cream, I can’t burb, my dad owns a tank.
Things I’m good at: writing, laughing at my own jokes, getting myself in trouble, problem solving.
Things I’m not so good at: deadlines, providing brief blurbs about myself or coming up with interesting titles.
I consider myself a lazy rebel: I would have started a revolution already, had I been bothered getting out of bed.
