About the speaker

When my husband Nick was diagnosed with Myeloma at the end of my BVC course and was subsequently refused funding for treatment by the Welsh Assembly Government I successfully appealed the decision. I then became involved with the charities which had supported us. I edited Patient leaflets for Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (now Bloodwise).

I was President of the Motorcycle Society at Swansea University in the 1980’s and am now President of Rogerstone Roses Womens’ Institute.  I was born and raised in Lancashire and diagnosed with a thyroid disorder in my 20’s so I talk a lot, very quickly, and wave my hands around at the same time to make my meaning clearer.  My facebook profile picture is my feet in Lancashire clogs “You can take the girl out of Lancashire but you shouldn’t take her clogs away from her.”
