About Sarah Rees

I’m a feminist, campaigner, mother of two and recent law student. My passion is to bring about equality, which I do in my role as Leader of the South Wales Branch of the Women’s Equality Party as well as via my blog A Mother’s Place. I campaign on issues that matter to parents, most often allowing women to have equal rights.

Some prominent issues I’ve recently campaigned on include the March of the Mummies, discussing pregnancy and maternity discrimination, the inequalities of the Welsh Government flagship ’30 hours of free childcare’ policy and the legalisation of the home use of the second ‘abortion pill’ in Wales.

In between all of this I keep sane through yoga, running and attempting to sew my own clothes when I can… as well as dragging my kids along on walks across our beautiful Welsh countryside.

I’m going to be talking about Flex Appeal… you may have heard the concept flexi-working or agile working being bounced around at the office or in the media. Basically, its being able to fit your working day around the rest of your commitments, allowing those of us who can’t fit into the rigid 9-to-5 to stay in employment. If we want to get on board with the future of work and make gender equality a reality we need to adapt for the future. The workplace has gotta have flex appeal.
